Life Begins at Conception

Losing a child during pregnancy is devastating. When your unborn child is called to Heaven, the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Community is here to surround you with love and support. It is our deep hope that our memorial garden and burial site provide you with a sacred, peaceful space for mourning, reflection and remembering our angel babies.

Note: Within our faith, a miscarriage is defined as a pregnancy loss occurring at a gestational age of 19 weeks and 6 days or less.

If you experience a pregnancy loss, Verkuilen – Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home will assist you in safely recovering and caring for your baby’s remains until the next Burial Prayer Service at St. John Cemetery in Little Chute.

What to Do in the Event of a Pregnancy Loss:

Loss at Home

Contact Verkuilen – Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home directly. They will guide you through the process and arrange to safely recover your baby.

Loss in the Hospital

Inform the hospital staff that you wish to have the burial at St. John Cemetery. Ask the hospital to notify Verkuilen – Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home to arrange for the recovery of your baby.

If you need immediate spiritual support or have questions, please contact the parish office.

Memorial Garden

Honor Your miscarried baby with a lasting memorial at St. John Cemetery.

Create a permanent tribute to your little one with a personalized memorial paver in our beautiful Memorial Garden. Each paver can be engraved according to your wishes—whether with a family name, your baby’s name or a meaningful date.

Our garden is a space of healing for everyone. Pavers are open to anyone wishing to honor a past pregnancy loss, babies resting elsewhere or those who do not have remains but desire a dedicated place of remembrance.

Burial sites are also available in the case of stillborn or infant loss. Contact St. John Nepomucene for more information.
