July Volunteer Spotlight

Meet Hannah Robinson

“I love so many things about St. John’s!  I’ve been a member of this parish my whole life and went to grade school here.  I love the tight-knit community feel, all the amazing things St. John’s does for people in need, how we open our doors to everyone, and how the parish helps me continue to grow in my faith.  We are also so blessed to have our wonderful pastor, Father Ron.

I am a cantor at Mass.  I usually do one or two Masses a month, also helping out with special occasion Masses such as faith development nights from time to time.  When I sing, my dad, John Robinson, plays guitar, and our music director, Jim DeGroot, plays piano and does additional vocals.  I am incredibly honored to be able to sing at Mass.  Nothing makes me feel closer to God than giving my all in a song of worship.  There is no other feeling like it.  I have heard from many members of the church community that my singing makes them feel close to God as well, and I think that is the most incredible thing.  In addition, I was a Mass server from 5th grade all the way through my college graduation.

Additional hobbies of mine include photography, baking, walking, hiking, disc golfing, and spending time with my family.  Most things active and outdoors are right up my alley!  Singing has always been the top of my hobby list, though.  I also love teaching and helping others, which I do often as a 6th grade math teacher in the area.

A fun fact about myself is that I had been in all 50 states by the time I was 15 years old.  When growing up, my parents took us on annual road trips where we got to see so many fascinating places.  This fostered my love of travel, seeing the world, and experiencing the culture of new places.”
