Our Blank Walls Are Filled with History: Step Into the Story of St. John’s

If you walk down the hallway between the Fellowship Hall and the New Parish Center, you’ll now find a beautifully curated collection of historic photos capturing the rich story of St. John Nepomucene church and school community. Located near the old sacristy, this mini-gallery offers a nostalgic look into our parish’s past, honoring the generations who built and nurtured this community.

Uncovering the Past (and a Few Mysteries!)

Since the Grand Opening of our New Parish Center back in December 2024, our team has been hard at work behind the scenes. We’ve spent over a year gathering, scanning and organizing photos to build a clearer timeline of our history.

Along the way, we quickly realized that diving into the archives often raises more questions than answers!

  • Who is in this picture?
  • What year was this taken?
  • What happened to the original photo from that yearbook?
  • Why were those paintings removed, and where did that statue go?

While a few mysteries remain unsolved, piecing together this mosaic of our shared history has been an incredible journey.

A Heartfelt Thank You

A project like this takes a village, and we could not have brought these memories back to life without the incredible generosity, time, and talent of so many people:

  • Gene and Virg Janssen & the Little Chute Historical Society: Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge and incredible scrapbooks with us.
  • Gordon at Gordon Photography: Thank you for your expertise in scanning, restoring and printing these timeless images.
  • John Ranes & The Frame Workshop Team: Thank you for precision framing, beautiful matting, and making sure every single piece was hung perfectly.
  • Our Parishioners: Thank you to everyone who contributed to the “one By One Campaign” and other ways, which made the funding for this historic display possible.
  • Deacon Dave: A personal thank you for entrusting me to take the lead on this special effort.

Come Take a Look!

The next time you’re passing through the halls, take a moment to pause, look back in time and celebrate how far we’ve come as a parish family.

Do you recognize anyone in the photos or have answers to some of our history mysteries? Let the parish office know!
