Home & School Association
What is Home and School?
The Home and School Association is our “Parent Organization” here at St. John School. As a parent, you are automatically part of St. John Home and School Association. Our purpose is to create a successful partnership between parents and school, so together we can help provide a quality education for all children. While St. John Home and School Association is a vehicle to mobilize parental efforts in support of the school, it also seeks to create and enrich a sense of community and school family. Any questions you may have regarding our Home and School Association or special events may be directed to homeandschool@stjn.org.
Monthly Meetings
St. John Home and School Association meets at 6:30 p.m. every third Wednesday in the Teachers Lounge at St. John School during the school year. We also host a meeting to kick off the school in late August, which is typically held offsite.

Officers
There are four officer positions that are held in the Home and School Association. They are two-year terms. Each officer can serve a maximum of four years. The positions are as follows: chair, co-chair, treasurer and secretary.
Amy Vosters is the chair of St John Home and School Association. She and her husband, Ryan, have been married for 11 years, are lifelong members of the parish and both attended St. John School growing up. They have three children currently attending SJS: Lauren, Grant and Mabel. Amy is employed in the Neenah School District as an Elementary Math Interventionist. When they aren’t busy with school related activities and various sporting events, they enjoy time spent outdoors, family bike rides, and lots of time together with family and friends. “My hope is that we can continue to grow the strong partnership between SJS and all of our wonderful families!”

Beth Driessen is the co-chair of St. John Home and School Association. She is married to Ryan, and together they have 4 children: Hannah, Claire, Lauren and Noah, all attending SJS. She is a reading specialist for the Seymour Community School District and has been a member of the St. John community her entire life, as well as attended SJS herself! She enjoys spending time with her family and friends. “I look forward to strengthening the family and school connection and getting to know you better.”
Melissa Luedtke is the treasurer of the St. John Home and School Association. She attended St. John School and now both of her children, Rudy and Aubree, attend. Melissa and her husband, Nate, have been married for 14 years. She is a registered nurse currently employed with Nurses PRN. In her free time, they go to their cottage on Legend Lake, hangout with family and friends and enjoy time at their new camper! “I’m looking forward to becoming more involved at SJS!”

Becky Vanden Avond is the secretary of St. John Home and School Association. She and her husband, Matt, have been married for 15 years. They have 3 boys attending SJS: Joe, Will and Tom. “We love St. John’s and continue to strive to live our faith.” She is recently “retired” from nursing while raising her boys and they keep themselves busy with sports and family activities, and simply enjoy being outside and reading.
Volunteer Opportunities
It takes a tremendous amount of volunteers to help with special events and fundraising. All profits from these events are used to fulfill the extra needs of the school and teachers. We would love to have you join us in our efforts, even if you only have a small window of time to volunteer! Opportunities to volunteer are available during the day, evenings or even during the weekends. Watch for a Volunteer Interest Form at the Parent Meeting early in the school year or contact us at HomeandSchoolSJS@gmail.com for more information. Sign-up Genius links will also be sent throughout the year via email or the Dutchmen Details. We appreciate all our volunteers because without you this could not be done!
Fundraising
In order to provide support for the school, St. John Home and School Association participates or organizes events to raise money.
Culver’s Night: Twice a year, families are able to enjoy food and fellowship as we usually pack the Culver’s in Little Chute from 5:00-8:00pm. 10% of sales are donated to St. John Home & School Association. Teachers volunteer to be food runners and our students enjoy seeing their teachers outside of the school setting.
Hometown Christmas Craft Sale: This is an annual fall event held in early November which is our largest fundraiser for the year. This event includes vendors, bake sale, turkey luncheon, and the very popular Theme Basket Raffle and Silent Auction. Each classroom and groups of staff members are assigned a theme. We ask for parent volunteers to assist with the collection of basket items and to participate in the basket assembly night to arrange the collections. All facets of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Community come together for this great community event.
Color Run: September 28th will be our 2nd Annual Color Run event for the ’22-’23 school year, this fun, family event is held on the SJS green space. Home & School provides free shirts for every student and staff member that get tye-dyed as they run past the color stations that are staffed by teacher and parent volunteers.

Hot Dog Day is a long standing tradition at St. John School, spanning over 40 years. It is an opportunity for little buddies and big buddies to share lunch and recess together. Parents and grandparents are always welcome to help. Watch for a Sign Up Genius to volunteer! The lunch includes a hot dog, chips, soda/water/milk, and a dessert for $2.00. There will be pizza instead of hot dogs in November, March and April. Cost is the same. An extra hot dog or slice of pizza is available on that day for $1.00. Participation in Hot Dog Day is for the scheduled nine days in the school year. This is a Complimentary Event for all School & Parish Staff.
