Meet Renee Kucharski — Literature/Language Arts
Why I love St. John School?
I love SJS because it is home! My husband and I chose to get married here so that my students could attend the ceremony. I still remember looking up and seeing the middle school students standing along the railing in the balcony so they could see. Also, I couldn’t imagine sending my own children to any other school. I love seeing them every once in a while during the day and knowing they experience FAITH every day, too.
My favorite part of teaching?
I love seeing “Aha!” moments – that instant when a student finally understands a concept, has a great idea to write about or is enjoying what we are reading. I work hard to show my students how much I love what we are learning about. I hope that when they see and hear how excited I am about reading Hamlet or writing poetry that they will be willing to give it a try and, hopefully, are inspired to learn more. Also, I love seeing the growth in SJS students throughout their middle school years – not just physically and academically but also in their character and confidence.
What I like to do outside of school?
I enjoy spending time with my family especially going for walks with my husband and watching my children in their activities. Snuggling up with a good book, of course, watching movies, and trying new recipes are other activities I enjoy outside of school too.
