Traveling Rosary for Vocations – April 12th

Traveling Rosary for Vocations – April 12th

Traveling Rosary for Vocations: The Green Bay Diocesan Council of Catholic Women is helping to raise an awareness and assist in rectifying our Diocesan Priestly Vocation Shortage. Our best course of action is prayer to our Lord. Therefore, we are sponsoring this prayer service as a sort of 9-month novena for vocations.

Every 2nd Wednesday of the month from March – November we will gather for prayer and inspiration at nine different churches throughout the diocese. The agenda includes rosary for vocations and a speaker. All are welcome.

The second date and location: April 12 at St. Philomena, 434 State Rd., Birnamwood, 54414; 1:00 – 2:30 PM. For more info call 920-794-8276.

WHY CONFESSION?

If God knows everything, why can’t we just tell him we’re sorry when we do something wrong?  There is a big difference between God “knowing” what we did and his ACT of forgiveness.

For true reconciliation to take place, God wants us to actually say the words, that we are truly sorry, and then to hear the words, spoken by the priest, that we are forgiven. Before Jesus ascended into heaven, he gave his divine power of forgiveness to his first priests, the apostles. They, in turn, passed that power to others throughout the centuries.

Therefore,  when a priest says, “I absolve you of your sins,” we must hear Jesus Himself, as the human face of God, saying those same words to us. We, as Catholics, are blessed to have this powerful sacrament in our lives.

Thank You for Your Support of the Seminarian Collection

Thank You for Your Support of the Seminarian Collection

Over the past seventeen years, the Seminarian Collection has supported 38 men in their formation to the priesthood.  Thank you for your prayers and financial support that helped make this collection a success!

Our diocese has been blessed by a generous anonymous gift to the One by One Campaign.  This gift will cover the costs of our seminarians’ tuition, room and board, as well as the Kairos formation house for the next five years.  As a result of this generosity, the Seminarian Collection has been paused.

Please continue to pray for our seminarians and for an increase in vocations.  If you know a man that would make a great priest, please tell him and ask him to be open to God’s call.   To learn more about how we are supporting ministries that are raising vocations, please visit www.catholicfoundationgb.org/vocations
