Action Committee
Why an Action Committee?
Our purpose for the action committees is to put into action the vision statements created by our visioning committees.
Prior to Covid, we interviewed and created three committees to envision the future of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Community by identifying goals and steps in three key areas of formation, action and celebration.
Now that our vision statements are complete, we will interview candidates to create action committees to put into action those vision statements.
Who can be an Action Committee member?
We are looking for 6-8 people. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Be able to collaborate well with others
- Listen to what others suggest and understand what works in the greater world
- Be a big dreamer
- Willing to put words into action
- Have a healthy prayer life
- Have an open mind
- Be comfortable with matters of the heart
- Have some background in the areas of education, service and worship
- Not be satisfied with “good enough”
If you are interested in an interviewed committee member position, please contact Fr. Ron by calling the parish office at 920-788-9061 or rbelitz@stjn.org.
What is the Action Committee’s Plan?
Meetings will be held once per month. Our collective vision is to engage and empower our community with a culture of inclusivity and service so that we journey together as disciples of Jesus. See below for each key area’s specific vision statement.
DISCIPLES IN FORMATION
The Disciples in Formation will awaken our natural desire for friendship with Jesus. They will create formation opportunities for our community to discover and follow Jesus by moving from a “head” relationship with jesus to a “heart” relationship.
Success: Everyone knows that Jesus wants to have a personal relationship with them, allowing them to deepen their love with Him and each other and Jesus’ love for them.
DISCIPLES IN ACTION
The Disciples in Action team will dream of ways St. John’s will carry the love of Jesus to others so they can discover Jesus and provide opportunities for us to share Jesus and deepen our and their relationship with Jesus. The team will incorporate discipleship into our current service activities and develop bold ways to meet the physical and spiritual needs of our community. Our faith will burst beyond the church walls and flow through our neighborhoods where our love and action will change lives.
Success: Action is a springboard to deepening our relationship with Jesus. The community knows that they count, that we care about them and that they are welcome.
DISCIPLES IN CELEBRATION
The Disciples in Celebration will provide opportunities to grow our prayer encounters so that we develop a strong personal and communal relationship with Jesus. Together, we will celebrate the joys and pains of life experiences of our community. Our celebrations at St. John’s will be a living and breathing celebration of our faith in God, our personal relationship with Christ and our connection to one another.
Success: We will intentionally take each life experience and turn it into prayer which evolves into a deeper relationship with God and Others.
