Meet Sarah Simon — Faith Development Director
Serving St. John Nepomucene since 2025
I’m so excited to be stepping into the role of Director of Faith Formation here at St. John Nepomucene. This parish has been a part of my life since I was born, and it truly feels like I’m coming home. I’m a proud St. John Dutchmen graduate and when I was in high school, I sang in Debbie & Steve’s Folk Choir (now Cornerstone) along with Jim DeGroot, and now I am a lector/commentator, communion distributor, work the tech booth and have served as a catechist in the high school program. In this new role for me, I’m looking forward to working alongside the amazing staff and walking with families as they raise their children in the Catholic faith. It’s a joy to share in this journey of faith together!
Education
I graduated from St. Norbert College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and Teacher Certification and many years later a Masters Degree in Educational Technology. I have also attended several youth ministry workshops at the University of Notre Dame and Lifeteen (in Mesa, AZ).
Prior Experience
I began my career as a high school math teacher for Notre Dame Academy in Green Bay before accepting the position of Campus Minister at Xavier High School. I was the Campus Minister and taught Math and Theology at the high school until I transitioned into the role of the Educational Technology Specialist for the Xavier Catholic School System 7 years ago. In that role, I worked with teacher and students in preschool through 12th grade. Over these 35 years in education, I have continued to take classes and attend workshops and retreats to help me to stay current with best practices in education.
Family
Many of you probably know my mom and dad, Judy and Dave Simon, as they have been very involved at St. Johns. I am the mom of a 9 year old Goldendoodle named Lila.
Hobbies/Interests
I love crafting with stamps, paper and ink. About 30 years ago I was introduced to scrapbooking and cardmaking, and since then I made a small side business of combining my background in education, technology and my love for stamping by offering stamping classes and workshops both in person and virtually. You can catch me on YouTube most Saturday mornings sharing new ideas for cardmaking. I have also jumped on the pickleball bandwagon. My favorite thing to do is spend time with my parents, siblings and nieces and nephews.
