The Screwtape Texts: A Devil’s Dialogue with His Temper in Training by Deacon Timothy J. Stevenson
The Screwtape Texts: A Devil’s Dialogue with His Tempter in Training make The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis accessible to a whole new generation of readers.
In this book and study, Lewis’ classic work has been reimagined in text-message format as a dialogue between a senior demon and his student.
Wormwood, the tempter in training, makes comments and asks Screwtape questions, which sometimes get him into trouble. His questions bring additional clarity to the reader, who is not meant to see the strategies and tactics used by the devil against them.
This translation expands the scope of weapons used against the “human vermin” to include things like smartphones and other distractions.
Each series of text messages (letters):
Points out spiritual warfare tactics used by the devil
Provides relevant Scripture and Church teaching
Offers counterattack strategies to use against the devil’s tactics
Includes thought provoking reflection questions for individual and small group studies
Vocations Awareness Week is November 3rd through November 9, 2024
National Vocation Awareness Week, celebratedNovember 3rd – November 9, 2024, is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.
Please ask Our Lord for more dedicated, holy priests, deacons, and consecrated men and women. May they be inspired by Jesus Christ, supported by our faith community, and respond generously to God’s gift of vocation.
