ALL RISE! The Northeast Wisconsin Passion Play Open Auditions

Open auditions for ALL RISE! The Northeast Wisconsin Passion Play, a dramatic musical based on the life of Christ, will be held on Thursday evening, January 30th and Saturday morning, February 1st, at the Xavier Fine Arts Theatre, 1600 W. Prospect Avenue, Appleton.

Adult and student performers, grades three through twelve, of all faiths are invited to audition.

Director Jim Romenesko seeks singers, dancers and actors for the community production. 

Performances dates for the 2025 season are April 10th through April 13th, with a special performance for Religious Education / Faith Formation groups on April 9th

Chorus, lead and supporting roles, both singing and non-singing are available.  Those auditioning will also be asked to do a simple movement/dance audition.

Performances and rehearsals are held at the Xavier Fine Arts Theatre, 1600 W. Prospect Avenue Appleton on Sunday evenings with soloists & actors in leading roles also rehearsing on some Sunday afternoons. Peter Leschke is the show’s musical director. Mary Doverspike, Jr. is the choreographer.

A Christmas Carol is a delightfully clever and fresh adaptation of the classic novel by Charles Dickens, presented by the St. Ignatius Chesterton Academy junior class. The classic hymns, dance pieces, and seasonal treats (served during intermission) will draw audience members into the Christmas spirit.

Admissions is $7/person, or $20/ family, at the door.

Xavier Children’s Theatre will present The Emperor’s New Clothes, an adaptation of the classic Hans Christian Anderson by Kathryn Schultz Miller at 7:00 pm on Friday, May 17th at Xavier Fine Arts Theatre, 1600 W. Prospect Avenue, Appleton.

The production, a clever play within a play, is directed by Maureen Milbach. Told with humor and some audience participation, it promises to be fun for children and entertaining for all ages.  The show is approximately 45 minutes and is ideal for children in Pre-K through sixth grade.  Tickets are available online anytime at www.xaviertheatre.com or the box office, (920) 733-8840. 

The box office is open Wednesdays from noon until 3:00 pm for walk up and phone sales, along with Monday, May 13th and Friday, May 17th from noon until 3:00 pm and one hour before the performance for walk up sales.  Educators, including home school groups, may contact the box office for information on daytime matinees on May 16th and 17th.

“Challenging the Entertainment Culture: Faustina, TV Jesus & Me” – September 25th at Xavier Fine Arts Theatre

On Monday, September 25th, our CIA-Faith Mission Operatives ministry is excited to host director, actress and singer MARIA VARGO to present “Challenging the Entertainment Culture: Faustina, TV Jesus & Me” at 7 p.m. in the Xavier Fine Arts Theatre. 

Vargo, who serves as president of Hollywood-based G.K. Chesterton Entertainment, will talk about the need for faith-based programming and highlight its recent successes despite the obstacles and cultural and media bias stacked against it. 

Vargo has experience in several areas of the entertainment industry including:

  • As the lead actress in more than 300 performances of Faustina, Messenger of Divine Mercy, St. Luke Productions’ nationwide touring one-woman stage play. It was here she first worked with and befriended “TV Jesus” Jonathan Roumie (of the hit streaming series The Chosen) in his debut role as Jesus.
  • As a writer, producer and director of numerous live productions and short films, the most recent a series on the lives of saints.

St. Lawrence Seminary High School students  present “Little Shop of Horrors” – May 5th through May 7th

St. Lawrence Seminary High School students will be performing the musical “Little Shop of Horrors” at 7:00 pm on May 5th and May 6th and at 2:00 pm on May 7th.

Tickets are $5 at the door (301 Church St., Mt. Calvary, WI). 

Come see this satirical comedy about a little plant that changes the trajectory of human lives!  It’s sure to be fun time!
