Seder Meal and The Rest of The Story on March 30th at St. John Nepomucene
All are welcome to come and join us for our Seder Meal and The Rest of the Story! This amazing event will occur on Monday, March 30th at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Come and learn more about our Jewish roots and how it ties into the Passover while enjoying a light meal and a Passover meal experience. Enjoy singing the songs, the aromas of food and tasting the flavors of a traditional Seder Meal.
We all know that our Christian faith has grown out of the Jewish faith and their traditions, but many of us may not know that much about the Jewish faith which helped form Jesus’s life, teachings, and actions. The Passover Seder was a key element of the Jewish religious practice as the Passover celebration was the high point of their religious year, just as Easter and Holy Week are the high point of our celebration of faith.
Seder means order and is used to describe the Passover meal that God ordered the Israelites to celebrate in Exodus 12:8. The description of the “order” of the celebration was further described elsewhere in the books of Exodus, Leviticus, and Deuteronomy in the Old Testament, and traditions were incorporated into the seder over time both before and after the time of Jesus. What we know as the Last Supper was the last Seder that Jesus celebrated with His disciples and became the early template for the celebration of our mass.
Click here to view a 4-minute video from a Messianic Jewish Rabbi that gives a little more explanation of the Passover Seder in relation to Jesus and the Last Supper. (Messianic Jews believe that Yeshua (Hebrew for Jesus) is the Messiah and worship God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.)
Registration is required by March 20th! Register by clicking here to fill out a google form, contacting the parish office at (920) 788-9061 or email Sarah at szteske@stjn.org.
Bring your family and friends and come celebrate at experience of the Passover Meal that you will never forget!
