June Explanation Station – St. John Nepomucene Adult Faith Formation

June Explanation Station – St. John Nepomucene Adult Faith Formation

God expresses His divine will in the ancient law of the Old Testament. Then, God enters human history directly through the person of Jesus, who is the Son of God and one with God in a unique way. In turn, Jesus gives us an enduring way to encounter his presence in what the church now calls the sacraments.

In common things —water, oil, bread, wine, words, touch, a ring, a promise — we meet the holy presence of God. Oh, the beauty of our Catholic faith.

Meet Austin & Cheyenne – Catholic Foundation – Green Bay, WI

This year for the Bishop’s Appeal, there are some additional stories about people impacted by diocesan ministries supported by the Appeal.  One of the stories is on Austin and Cheyenne, a couple from St. John Nepomucene who was supported during their marriage preparation.

Prior to marriage preparation, Cheyenne and Austin did not attend Mass frequently.  They both were raised Catholic and cared about their faith, but it wasn’t the top priority amidst all the wedding planning.  From working on a guest list, to making flower arrangements, going through marriage preparation was another item on their “Wedding To-Do List.”

However, their marriage preparation at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Community in Little Chute changed how they view the importance and sanctity of the Mass and marriage itself.

Because of your gift to the Bishop’s Appeal, the diocesan Office of Marriage and Family Life provides resources and support for parishes as they walk with engaged couples on their marriage-preparation journey.  These resources have inspired hundreds of couples in our Diocese, including Austin and Cheyenne, to place their faith at the center of their relationship.

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) (formerly known as RCIA) is the process by which the Catholic Church welcomes new members into its midst or completes the process of Christian initiation. This process involves receiving 1 or all 3 sacraments of initiation which include Baptism, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation.

During the process of initiation, a person grows in knowledge of the teachings of the Catholic Church, explores the meaning of the Scriptures for daily life, develops friendships with members of the parish community, learns to pray and worship in the Catholic tradition and discovers the joy of serving others.

If you are interested in learning more about this process or the Catholic faith, please contact the parish office at (920) 788-9061 and ask for Deacon Dave Van Eperen and he will provide you with more more information. You may also email him at: dvaneperen@stjn.org. Lessons are set to begin mid-September 2024.
