December Explanation Station – St. John Nepomucene Adult Faith Formation

What are some ways I can help my family and friends love Jesus more deeply?

Practice Forgiveness
Model forgiveness when you are wronged, and extend grace, mercy and patience in your interactions.

Be a Living Example
People learn more from what you do than what you say. Let them see that Jesus is your top priority, especially during challenging times.

Talk about Jesus —
Make Jesus a part of everyday conversations.

Foster Godly Friendships —
Surround yourself with people who might want to strengthen their walk with Jesus.

November Explanation Station – St. John Nepomucene Adult Faith Formation

It’s important for us as Catholic Christians, as we defend our faith, to note that we do not worship Mary or the saints; we HONOR them and ask for their intercession, just like asking a friend to pray for us. One beautiful way to ask for Mary’s intercession is to pray a daily Rosary to encourage deeper devotion to her and to bring us closer to Christ.

Blessed Mother, pray for us. Jesus, have mercy on us.

Virtues are learned through presentations, crafts and activities.  Each year a “wreath” is worked on for the blue Blessed Mother sashes the girls wear at the meetings.  The wreath is made up of 9 flower petals for the 9 virtues studied that year. Petals are earned by participating in the monthly meetings, service projects, and completing follow-up activities at home.

Learn and become a member of the Catholic Daughters of America – Ave Maria #1011 in Appleton

My name is Joyce Luckow and I am the regent  of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Ave Maria #1011 based at St Pius Church in Appleton. We are working to make the world a better place to live as well as enhancing our spirituality.

Catholic Daughters of the Americas was started in 1903 by the Knights of Columbus because they knew that behind every good man there is a woman, and they needed our help. Catholic Daughters is the oldest and largest Catholic woman’s organization in the Americas with 65,000 members. We are a service group that supports our parish, our priests, seminarians as well as the people around us. We serve meals at Pillars, the homeless shelter, collect food for Loaves and Fishes and ring bells for the Salvation Army.

Four years ago, a Junior Catholic Daughters group was formed in Kaukauna. We adopt a nonprofit each year and help them reach one of their goals. The first year with several fundraising events, and with the help of some adult supporters we were able to raise $5,000 to put air conditioning in Kaukauna’s St Vincent DePaul’s store. The next year we adopted Lincoln’s Foster Closet and helped with their mission of helping kids in foster care with their basic needs as many times they leave their home with nothing but the clothes on their back. We raised money and purchased a trailer for them to pick up donated furniture for these children.

Last year, VIDA opened their home for pregnant women in Darboy. The air conditioning units in the building did not work and we raised $5,000 to help with the $12,000 cost of repair!

We would like to invite you to join our group. We meet once a month from September to May. We are working to move our meeting site to a more central place and inviting any young women, 4th grade through high school in the Fox Valley to come join us!
